It traverses and visualizes English&#8217;s lexicon using (using BFS\/DFS algorithms) and a structured database.<\/p>\n<p>You can access it here: <a href=\"https:\/\/xenius.org\/clickandbuilds\/Logonaut\/index.html\">Logonaut Visual Etymology Dictionary<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The app is still in development, though it&#8217;s definitely working. It sources its definitions from a processed raw dump file from Wiktionary, and searches return Wiktionary entries that are cross-referenced against Princeton&#8217;s WordNet\u2014a large lexical database of the English language. Princeton is no longer maintaining WordNet, though users and developers can still receive support via Open English WordNet (OEWN) and the Global Wordnet Association (GWA).<\/p>\n<p>I am working to expand the dictionary so that etymologies are more clearly ordered, with the goal of being able to drill down into a word&#8217;s history until its deepest roots are exposed.<\/p>\n<p>My goals are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a searchable etymology database allowing users to isolate and cross reference related terms.<\/li>\n<li>Structure the database so that users can explore word origins through various linguistic eras, languages, and dialects, eventually landing on Proto-Indo-European (PIE) roots.<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;and to eventually, once optimized, to expand this to other languages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1283\" src=\"https:\/\/jolivo.xenius.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LogonautSearchResult-300x233.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"569\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jolivo.xenius.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LogonautSearchResult-300x233.png 300w, https:\/\/jolivo.xenius.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LogonautSearchResult-1024x797.png 1024w, https:\/\/jolivo.xenius.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LogonautSearchResult-768x597.png 768w, https:\/\/jolivo.xenius.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LogonautSearchResult-1536x1195.png 1536w, https:\/\/jolivo.xenius.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/LogonautSearchResult.png 1679w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a Graph-based Dictionary &amp; Visualization Application.
